League Tag Gala Day

On Tuesday November 22, forty eight footy keen KHS students attended the League Tag Gala Day. It was a beautiful sunny day where 9 schools attended Koola Oval to compete in the fun event. Teams competed against other school in their respective age group and gender divisions. The standard of play across each division was quite high, making the games exciting to watch.

Killara entered 5 teams which enjoyed playing against both social and more competitive sides. The U14's boys and U16's boys teams, despite not making it to the finals, both played quite well and should be proud of their efforts against some very strong sides. Richard Jiang in the U14's and Cooper Robertson in the U16's displayed great skills and excellent sportspersonship.

There were 3 Killara teams in the U14's girls division. One of our U14's girls teams made it to the final and battled against an exceptionally good Willoughby girls team. The epic match resulted in a 3-2 scoreline to Willoughby, so Killara attained a commendable 2nd place. Each of the girls in the 2nd placed side are to be commended for their great teamwork and skill. Additionally, AJ Sri is to be commended for her great leadership.

At the end of the day, it was nice to see smiles all around. Each Killara team should be proud of their efforts, exceptional behaviour and sportspersonship.

On Wednesday 30 November, Mr Brown's class played a thrilling 9.8 SEPEP Cup Grand Final. 'Team Zimbabwe' took the early lead with some outstanding work by Jack Mc, Michael M and Brendan S.

There was some controversy as one of the 'Zimbabwe' players went missing at half time and almost had to forfeit the match giving away the trophy. The 'Zimbabwe' players rallied and found the missing player for the second half.

The score was 2-1 for Zimbabwe going into the halftime break so captain Ryan Z rallied his players who immediately responded scoring first in the second half through Fin B taking the score to 2-2. In the final minutes Killara FC were unlucky not to score after the goal was disallowed by the referee.

At the end of full time the score remained 2-2 and penalties were required to separate the two teams. At the end of five penalties, the score was still tied with each team failing to break the deadlock. That was until Michael M stepped up and scored the clincher to win the 2022 9.8 SEPEP Trophy. Congratulations 'Team Killara'.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, statitions and coaches who participated in a wonderful tournament.
