Japanese Calligraphy Competition prize winners

We held a calligraphy incursion for the Years 7 to 12 Japanese classes in Term 3. This was a very rewarding day for both students and teachers. Students could see within a session how they could improve their techniques in using a brush and ink on a special calligraphy paper.

With guidance from our skilled VCE assistant teacher, Naoko Saito, we selected and submitted the best pieces of our students’ calligraphy work to the Japanese Language Teachers Association of Victoria (JLTAV) calligraphy competition.

The results are extremely pleasing and we'd like to congratulate the following Years 7 to 12 students on their wins:

Years 7 and 8 Category

  • 1st place - Eileen Yu, Year 8
  • 2nd place - Sasha Molnar, Year 8
  • 3rd place - Yulin Liu, Year 7

Years 9 and 10 Category

  • 2nd place - Eva Zhou, Year 9

Years 11 and 12 Category

  • 1st place - Helen Gu, Year 12
  • 2nd place - Shiyan Yin, Year 11

This list of students will be included in the JLTAV's summer newsletter, and prizes and certificates will be given to successful students in a School assembly in Term 1, 2024. A very big thank you to our Japanese staff for organising this experience.

2024 Year 10 French

What better way of starting Early Commencement in Year 10 French than to go into the city to take part in a Scavenger Hunt in French and finish with a delicious French lunch of baguette sandwiches, crêpes and waffles!

The 2024 Year 10 French class discovered the impact of the French culture in the city of Melbourne by solving riddles and exploring iconic buildings, statues, shops and cafés, which all have a link to the French culture.

Thank you to Mr Troitzky who joined us for this fun excursion!
