LEARNING & TEACHING @ MFGSC: NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 2022

MFG AWARDS CEREMONY – CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT AND EXCELLENCE

On Friday 25th November we celebrated our students’ achievements at our Awards assembly. We trialled a different format this year which involved a whole school assembly with all students from Years 7 to 11.

We will publish a booklet of our 2022 Awards’ winners before the end of the school year and after the VCE results come out on Monday December 12th.

I was lucky enough to support Shanay Jacobs (Year 10) – Shanay was awarded a 2022 ABCN Accelerate Scholarship. This year, 45 scholars have been selected by the Scholarship Selection Panel from all over Australia.

The ABCN Foundation aims to level the playing field and empower high-potential young people from low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds to achieve their potential. We do this through the provision of our unique three-year financial and corporate mentoring support scholarship program, Accelerate.

An ABCN Accelerate Scholarship provides scholars:

  • $7000 for educational expenses over years 11, 12 and the first year of further education, or training.
  • A business mentor selected by ABCN from our network of member companies
  • A 3-year leadership program comprising regular facilitated sessions, one-on-one meetings and a 2-day Leadership Summit (usually held in Sydney)
  • A network of role models and like-minded students outside the scholar's existing community
  • Workplace and tertiary education access and opportunities.

Well done Shanay!
