Christmas Craft Market

MFG Student Engagement Program 2022

The MFG Student Engagement Program has been running all year and was designed to establish small group learning activities for students who have been identified by house, school leaders and staff as benefiting from individualised programs. The program is aiming to support the development of specific skills for identified students, such as:

  • Effort
  • Focus
  • Persistence
  • Resilience
  • Trying something new
  • Working in a team
  • Kindness
  • Sharing
  • Conflict resolution
  • Problem solving
  • Communication
  • Managing discomfort
  • Building friendships

The program delivered these individual skills through craft/creative activities for students each week culminating in a CHRISTMAS CRAFT MARKET at MFG last Wednesday lunchtime.

Stalls included:

  • Tote Bags
  • Beeswax Wraps and Beeswax Lip Balm
  • Earrings and Bracelets
  • Home made Lemonade
  • Cake Pops
  • Hair Scrunchies

The students were asked to make the items for sale, do market research about what would sell, advertise the event, price the items (both materials and their time) and then use their numeracy skills to sell the items using a cash only market.

The money raised will be used to take these students to the Melbourne Aquarium this week and will aim to expand their thinking, support of each other in new situations and inspire their curiosity about the world around them.

It has been wonderful watching these young people gain self-confidence, social skills and creativity over the year.

Well done to all the students in the Student Engagement Program and thankyou to all MFG staff who supported the program this year.
