Alumni involved in the Early Commencement Program (ECP)

To finish off the year we had Indira Narain (Class of ‘14), Erin Jobling (’06) and Alannah Matchett (’17) return to be part of the Early Commencement Program (ECP). Indira studied a Bachelor of Environment and Society and is currently working for the Department of Health in COVID-19 Response – Outbreak Management within High-Risk Settings. She spoke to Year 11 and 12 Environmental Science students about representing MFG at the Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington DC when she was a Year 11 student, some of the many opportunities she has said ‘yes’ to, her voluntary work and work experience and her travel. Students were amazed at what Indira has managed to squeeze into the eight years since graduating from MFG.

Similarly, Erin and Alannah a Solicitor in Personal Injuries and Graduate Lawyer in Wills and Estates Law, respectively, spoke to Year 11 Legal Studies students about their very different pathways into Law and reasons for specialising in their chosen field. They also discussed what their work looks like on a day-to-day basis, whilst putting straight some of the misconceptions and barriers associated with Law and getting into Law.

I look forward to continuing to broaden the Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College alumni network in 2023 and provide many more opportunities for our alumni to return to their old school to work with current students.
