Principal's Report

Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2022

What an amazing year we have had at Rangeview! As the first full year of on-site school attendance since 2019, for our students and our staff, it has been a big one. The Rangeview way is to consistently do things bigger and better - and this year has been a reflection of this.

In the last two weeks we have had Level 1 & 2 Soccer Clinics, Level 3/4 and 5/6 students participated in the State Final for Hoop Time, Level 5/6 students participated in Division Battleball, we held our 4th 2023 Transition Session and our end of year Foundation Information Night, our Fathering Project and P&F Committee ran a very successful sausage sizzle and bake sale at the State Election, we hosted our Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships partner schools in an end of year community of practice meeting, our Instrumental Music students performed in a Drums Concert and a Piano Concert, Level 3 had a Martial Arts Life Skills Incursion, and our Fathering Project held the inaugural whole school Camp Out on the school oval.

The richness of our teaching and learning is a direct result of the hard work, enthusiasm and dedication, of our amazing teaching staff, our caring ES staff, our passionate leadership team, and our fantastic parent/carer community. Thank you all for making the school what it is.

Staffing for 2023

As we reach the end of the year we always have some staff looking for changes, and often some looking to return - after a change or some family leave.

For 2023 we say goodbye to Lisa O'Connor who has picked up a position at Shelford Girls Grammar for 2023. We wish Lisa all the best in this new adventure.

We welcome back Meg Hubbard. Meg has been teaching in an Aboriginal community on Elcho Island and returns to us with the richness and depth of experience that this brings.

Jacqueline Moran is returning to Rangeview for 2023 and after many days of CRT with us we are delighted to welcome her back as a part time staff member.

Natalie Morrissey, Lisa Janes & Dale Bateup are our three new teachers joining the Rangeview Staff for 2023. Natalie and Lisa will join the Level 5/6 team and Dale will join Level 1.

Karen Smith is joining us as our School Nurse. Karen is a qualified and experienced Nurse and we are so lucky to be welcoming her to the Office Team.

Mandy Cooke will take 6 months of leave to start 2023 and we look forward to seeing her back in Term 3.

School Council

Our 2023 School Council, led by President Sherol Singh and Treasurer Sartaj Singh, had the final School Council meeting of the year on Wednesday 23rd November. They approved the draft School Budget for 2023 and discussed the School Staff Survey 2022.

I would like to extend my thanks to the School Council for their support and guidance throughout this year. It has been such a privilege working with this group.

Thank you to; Simon Davies, Fiona Hall, Rob Kennedy, Luke Low, Cassie Morris, Chris Robinson, Sartaj Singh, Sherol Singh, Chris Stolke, Paul Wong, Mitchell Clark, Jo Davidson, Kate McLeod and Liam Sommers

Election Day Sausage Sizzle & Bake Sale

Thank you to our Fathering Project and P&F Committee for a hugely successful Sausage Sizzle and Bake Sale on State Election Day. They sold out of Bacon and Egg Rolls, Sausages and Cakes before the end of the day.

The Fathering Project Camp Out

On Saturday 3rd December our Fathering Project ran the inaugural Whole School Camp Out on the school oval. Families arrived throughout the afternoon and tents went up all across the oval lawns. Kids played games on the grassphalt and the playgrounds, there was a paper plane competition, toasted marshmallows and then everyone watched a movie in the gym while enjoying a pizza dinner.

A huge thank you to Chris Roche and Simon Tan for organising and running this event! It was a truly special way to bring dads (and mums and others) together with their kids to end the year.

4H Breakfast

Class 4H ran a breakfast morning on Wednesday 23rd November and invited the schools leadership. Thank you 4H from Mr Sommers, Ms McLeod, Ms Powell and I for our delicious pancakes, French toast and omelets!

Student Leaders

It has been such a pleasure to work with our 2022 Student Leaders this year. Mr Sommers has run the Monday morning meetings each week and I have joined him for most of them. This group of thoughtful, compassionate and resilient students has come a long way and I wish them all the best for 2023 and beyond.

(Its been lovely seeing some of their younger siblings participate in some leadership activities also)

Rangeview Carols

What a spectacular night for our Whole School Carols! A huge thank you to Megan Campbell for organising and running the event, and to Deidree Geilings and Vicki Tzimos for comparing. Also thanks go to Kirilee Bell for her leadership of the Rangettes! It was a shame that he weather cut the performances short but we will ensure that the grades that did not get to perform do get a chance in the last weeks of term.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and hope you get to spend some quality time with your family through December and January.

From the Rangeview Leadership Team (and Captain AB & Super Sparrow) we wish you all the best and can't wait to see you back in 2023!
