Level 1

It is hard to believe that Term 4 is drawing to a close. What an exciting time we have had learning, laughing and playing - and there is still plenty of fun to come in the weeks ahead!

The children have enjoyed revisiting many of the reading strategies they have learnt this year, sharing their knowledge and skills. The stamina displayed during Independent Reading time has been exceptional and the children should be proud of their progress this year. The children have continued to entertain each other with their persuasive writing! They have also been practising writing recounts and narrative stories. In Mathematics, we have been focusing on multiplication, enjoying many hands-on activities to consolidate our learning.

Our Inquiry topic ‘Water works’ has generated many rich discussions about water and how we use it, water conservation and the water cycle. The children conducted a ‘Water Cycle’ experiment, making predictions and recording their observations. The also explored coding techniques using ScratchJnr and created a coded version of the ‘Water Cycle’.

Thank you to our Level 1 families for your generosity in donating so many items for our Djirra Reverse Advent Calendar hampers. It was so lovely to practise the gift of giving with the children.

We wish everyone a very safe and happy Christmas. Enjoy the summer holidays!
