Year 9 Visual Design & Wuwing work together

Year 9 Visual Design students recently collaborated with Kuta-Kaya students in Wuwing to design and create Soft Toys. The Wuwing students drew a design for a soft toy, then the Year 9 students asked lots of questions to find out more about the Wuwing kids and clarify what they wanted the toy to look like. The Year 9 Visual Design students then created a digital drawing of the toy design before creating a pattern and constructing the toy. When they were finished, they visited Wuwing to give them their toys. Year 9 really enjoyed seeing the smiles and excited reactions from the Wuwing kids when they received the toys.

Year 8 create SPOOKY selfies

In Visual Arts, Year 8 students have studied the work of artist, animator and filmmaker Tim Burton. They took inspiration from Tim Burton’s signature artistic style to create Spooky Selfies just in time for Halloween. It was great to see the effort that many Year 8 students made and the level of detail in their spooky cartoon self-portraits. Well Done, Year 8!

Sculpture by the Sea excursion

On Friday 4th November 16 Year 12, 10 & 9 Visual Arts students attended Sculpture by the Sea excursion. Sculpture by the Sea runs from Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach coastal walk as the world’s largest free to the public sculpture exhibition. The spectacular coastal walk is transformed into a 2km long sculpture park over three weeks featuring 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and across the world. Students walked from Tamarama to Bondi viewing and interacting with the sculptures. A guest artist spoke to the students about the cross section of works that explored how lives and work changed due to the pandemic lockdowns.
