Big Picture Academy

Year 9 Advisory - Andrew Forrer – Year 9 Big Picture Academy Advisor

As the Year 9 advisory year comes to a close, there is much to report. We have welcomed some new students into the advisory over the last term and they have been settling in well and have embarked on their initial “Who am I?” personal projects. The aim of this introductory project is to allow students to become familiar with the process of Big Picture, while hopefully discovering more about themselves that will inform future projects and educational opportunities. The students who have been in the Big Picture Academy program longer are well versed in the Big Picture design and are becoming more fluent in planning and executing their projects. This term, projects have included planning and preparing a 3-course meal with recipe cards, animal and habitat conservation and designing footy boots with hand painted Aboriginal art. Alongside this we have embarked on an advisory project that focuses on the historical theme of “Changing Rights and Freedoms”, the advisory have been completing work on the American civil rights movement and how this activism influenced the Australian struggle for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander rights. This will culminate in a visual representation of all that students have learned about this fascinating and important period in history. I wish all of our students and families a safe and restful festive period to recharge and come back excited to learn and grow in 2023.

Year 10 Advisory Peter Asvestas  - Year 10 Big Picture Advisor

Year 10 Big Picture have had another successful semester this year. Congratulations to the students who completed their Gateway exhibition which is allowed them to continue on there.

Big Picture journey into Year 11 and Year 12.

We still continue to have students head out on their learning through internships, which is been amazing opportunity for them to learn amazing skills in the real world and in the wider community. We have also had she didn’t attend. YES TAFE programs which allows them to also learn new skills from experts in their passion field.

We have a strong leadership group within the Year 10 advisory. Congratulations to the students who are in the JAECG and continue to kick goals.

We also would like to welcome Max Formosa and Riley Hamilton into advisory. They have already been a great addition, and I look forward to working with these kids in their senior schooling.

Another year done and lots of hard work that has been put into these projects. I hope everyone has a safe holiday.
