INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

YEAR 3 / 4 NEWS

What a wonderful start to the year! The Year 3’s and 4’s have been getting to know each other and the new space that they will be in for the year. We have been getting to know ourselves as learners and what attributes good learners have. We have established classroom libraries, learned how to play as a team in the form of partner work and even outraced each other in group games like memory tag! All students have settled in extremely well which we are very proud of. Here’s to a great year ahead!

YEAR 5/6 NEWS

This week in Year 5/ 6 students began a Mathematics unit on 3 dimensional shapes. We began by looking at the relationship between 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes. In the first two photos we were calculating how to make a square prism, using 2 squares and 4 rectangles. We worked as a team to complete this task.

We looked at how many of each 2-dimensional shape made up a 3-dimensional shape. We used our problem-solving skills to design our own nets to make 3 Dimensional shapes. We looked at our base shape to name our shape then designed either a prism or a pyramid.

We were so excited.. We did it!!!
