From the Acting Principal

Welcome Back to the 2023 School Year

Parents and Carers,

It is so wonderful to have the students' energy and enthusiasm back in the classrooms and the school grounds. In chatting to the students and teachers the feedback has been really positive having a couple of days to settle back in with a good mix of wellbeing activities, some small group and individual assessment tasks. We welcome you all back and look forward to working with you as we continue to work together in partnership to give your children the best educational experiences we can.

We welcomed all the new Preps on Wednesday to their first day as a class and comforted the parents with a cuppa. Some were smiling and some were looking a little lost as they pondered a few hours without the company of their child. We look forward to welcoming all our other new students at assembly on Monday morning as we gather together for the first time in 2023. The assembly which is held in the community centre will be a short one with the main focus being on introducing the 2023 school leaders.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful staff here at Our Lady’s, for all the effort they have been putting into getting ready to teach our students this year. There have been many hours spent getting things just right in the classrooms for the children's return. I know the teachers will spend the next couple of weeks getting to know your children and establishing or refreshing their relationships.

Sorry for the long memo I sent out earlier this week but there are always so many important things that need to be explained at the beginning of the year. If you didn’t have time to read it all, go back and have a look. There is information on Student Safety, School Attendance, Uniform, Canteen, School Fees, Asthma and Anaphylaxis as well as a schedule of events.

We start the year with our first whole school mass at 9.30am on Friday 10/02 and all parents and carers are invited to come along.

Those that know me are aware that I’m not the most Social Media savvy person, so I ask that you all please help raise our school profile by liking and sharing stories you find interesting on our social pages.  It is also a great way to keep up to date with what is happening at OLHC.
