11 VCE PSYCHOLOGY

2023 Year 11 students have been studying time in their  VCE Psychology class.

What is Time? The meaning of time is a construct by humans to be able to measure aspects of our lives. Named for the Greek god of time, Chronos, we have developed a system to give time meaning.

Students used Minute-To-Win-It activities to explore time perception.

  • Cup Stack - Using 12 cups separated into 3 pyramid stacks of: 3 cups - 6 cups - 3 cups - How many times can you stack these cups and then unstack them in one minute?
  • Blowing Bubbles - Time how long a participant blows bubbles before they express boredom.
  • Pencil Bounce - Using three cups and three pencils with an eraser - try and bounce a pencil into each cup in a minute.
  • Balloon Juggling - Using 2 or 3 balloons, endeavour to juggle (keep the balloons off the ground) for one minute.
  • Silence - As a group and using a stop watch - stay silent for one minute. No laughing, talking or other sounds. If anyone in the group makes a sound - start again.

11 Food Studies

2023 Year 11 students have been busy in the Hospitality Centre with their first practical. The students made a crusty mixed-seed loaf. For most of our students this was their first experience cooking in the Hospitality Centre’s commercial kitchen, they also had to learn how to use a gas oven. The students worked very well, they were enthusiastic and their breads were very yummy.

Christmas in Malgobila

Thanks to Lincoln and Bess for helping decorate the Christmas tree.

VCE VM

The new VCE Vocational Major students have settled into their new routines and have been enjoying a taste of the applied or hands on approach to learning. This week as a taster the students participated in 'mini projects' which were aimed to assist students with understanding the process of Planning, Organising, Undertaking and Reviewing.

The projects included designing art and technology projects, baking afternoon tea and planting the garden beds adjacent to the new outdoor classroom. We are looking forward to 2023 and seeing what major events and projects will evolve.
