Capital Works Report

Yaluk - Community Hub & Secondary Building

The contract has been signed and the school has had a start-up meeting with the project team which now includes October 7th  as the starting date! The first builders should appear on site to set up their site management facilities and temporary fencing in playground 6 (the oval). The building works are expected to be completed by the end of 2023. This is an exciting time for the school.

The neighbours on Landy Road, Emu Parade, Lichfield Avenue and Bamburgh Street have had a flyer from the VSBA distributed advising of the works - thanks to Corinne and an early morning walk.

Staff carpark student drops off and pick up. The site works and the delivery zone will be from the staff carpark so the entry to the staff carpark will be slightly narrowed. We have requested that deliveries occur before or after student drop-off /pick-up time so there should be minimal impact on parents dropping off students. If there are any challenges please advise the school immediately.

Bamburgh Street parents carpark drop off and pick up. The two school buses will be located in the parent's carpark during the construction period. The number of parks for parents will be reduced. Please leave the carpark immediately after you have completed dropping off or picking up your children. There is also a supervised drop-off gate in the Administration car park that primary parents may also use. Bamburgh Street is very narrow and with cars parked opposite it is very difficult for buses at times. Can you please consider doing a left hand turn out of the parent's carpark into Bamburgh Street to ease the congestion when the buses are entering the loop. It takes less than a minute to drive the extra distance around the school.

Landscaping works will occur in the first week of the Term 3 break with a revitalised indigenous front car park ready for the start of Term 4.

Vinyl daisy and bug blackboards will be installed on the fences and balconies in Playgrounds 1 & 2. This will brighten the yard and provide a place for students to express their artistic and writing skills.

Work is commencing on the outdoor learning areas next to Rooms 14 & 15 and in the senior area near the parent gate kitchen garden.

The school buses will be moved to the parent carpark and will be parked alongside the primary building wall.
