Well, we are nearly there!

Our Year 12 VCE students will be finishing their exams this week, in time for the Year 12 Graduation to be held on Wednesday night at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre in Traralgon. For the first time in the last three years we will have parents at the graduation celebration; a little bit more of the return to normality.

The Year 12 exams have been running extremely smoothly with no major issues occurring, despite some of the stories that have appeared in the daily newspapers. The examiners have commented very favourably about the focused approach that students have brought to their exams this year.

This week Year 11 VCE students are sitting their exams while Year 11 VCAL students are finishing off anything that needs to be completed before they move into their Year 12 VCAL program in 2023. Next week 2023 Year 12 students have the chance to spend three days at Ormond College at The University of Melbourne. With a different range of activities set up for VCE and VCAL students, this is an excellent opportunity for students to get an insight into the different pathways that might be available for them after they finish Year 12.

And then we begin the two weeks of Headstart. It is important for students and their families to understand that is really the beginning of the 2023 classes. At all year levels students will be doing work that is part of the 2023 syllabus. VCE students will have a range of tasks that they will be required to do over the holidays. This also a chance for Year 11 students to get a taste of the course and subjects they have selected and have a better understanding if what they have chosen is right for them. Headstart is a time when changes can be made with the help of teachers, Advocates and the Careers Team. At the end of all this, the last day of Headstart will be spent with the rest of the school, celebrating the end of 2022 at Gumbuya World.
