Primary School News

Primary Athletics Carnival.

From the Head of Primary, Tracey Rogers

One of the most important parts of our community is our wonderful staff. Dedicated, intelligent, welcoming, committed, and passionate people they work tirelessly for our school each and every day. Last week was Education Assistant Appreciation Week, and I know that gratitude was shared across the school for this incredible team of educators.

Over the first half of this term, whilst Ms Cuming has enjoyed her Long Service Leave, we have had several staff stepping up and stepping in.

  • Mrs Heron has done a wonderful job as our Acting Early Years Coordinator. We are grateful for her expertise and the skill she has shown in leading this important part of our school.
  • Mrs Zecca’s contribution as Acting Dean of Teaching and Learning has been significant and we are also grateful for her expertise and skill in this role.
  • Mr Blanchard has done a great job working with our Possum Class whilst Mrs Heron was in her acting role.

On behalf of the John Wollaston Community, we thank them for their contribution.

There is always a lot happening around the school and this fortnight is no exception. Be sure to check SEQTA regularly for any communication. And keep an eye on the calendar for key events. Coming up before the end of term we have –

  • Art Exhibition Opening Night – Wednesday 14 September
  • Inter-School Athletics Carnival at All Saints’ College on Thursday 15 September
  • Founders’ Day activities on Friday 16 September
  • Year 6 Camp – Tuesday 20 – Friday 23 September
  • Inquiry Journeys – Tuesday 20 September

Our four school finalists represented John Wollaston at the Senior Speakers’ Challenge for 2022. All students did an outstanding job of both their speeches and representing the School with distinction. Congratulations to the following students on their excellent achievement.

Akasha Ardzejewski – Silver medallist

Sophie McCabe – Bronze medallist

Violet Heather – Bronze medallist

Matilda Hewson – Bronze medallist
