Footscray District Athletics

On Wednesday our Athletics Squad competed in the Footscray District Athletics Carnival held at Newport Athletics Track.  It's been a couple of years since we have been able to run such an event so for a lot of our children it was a completely new experience.

The competition was stiff but our children braved the elements and put in some strong performances throughout the day.

We had a number of place-getters and the final list of children who have qualified for the next stage of competition will be forwarded to schools next week.

Thank you to Mr Dan Palanca for organising and training the team and co-ordinating the experience for the children.

Italian Day Helpers

A message from Signora Anderson...

Ciao a tutti (Greetings everyone),

I am currently planning Corpus Christi’s bi-annual Italian day and am seeking all the wonderfully supportive parents who are willing and able to lend a hand.

Our Italian day celebrations will take place on Wednesday 19th October.

The day will commence with a whole school assembly – a gala event not to be missed!  The children will then move into their small groups (which they will select the previous week) to discover the beauty of the Italian culture.

We will be offering the children the opportunity to participate in four 45-minute activities between the times of 9.30 - 1.00 pm… this is where we need your assistance because many hands will make light work. If you are able to assist in anyway and for any length of time I would love to hear from you.  Remember no contribution is too small and that your assistance will add value to what is shaping up to be a wonderful day.

Thanking you in anticipation of your help

Timetable Changes

Over the weeks leading up to the end of term, our double 'specialist classes'  will be timetabled to allow teachers to plan extensively for Term 4. This however does NOT affect the days on which your child is to wear their sports uniform except for the Year Preps who will need to wear it on Tuesday 6th September and  Year 1/2 who will need to wear their sportsuniform on Thursday 8th September. I'm sure teachers will keep their classes notified.

Footy Colours Dress Up Day

Don't forget that next Friday 2nd September we will celebrate the AFL final series with the return of our annual ‘Footy Colours Dress-Up Day’.

On this day children are invited to wear their favourite AFL team colours to school. After Sunday's epic Round 23 clash,  I hope to see a sea of black and white (Go Pies!)

Fathers' Day Brekky

Next Friday 2nd September, we will kick off Fathers' Day Weekend (ha ha), with our Fathers’ Day Breakfast

Breakfast will be served from 8:00 am until 8:45 am and what better to serve dad than a hot bacon and egg roll? Don’t forget to wear your Footy Colours to school (dads and children)!

Fathers' Day Stall

Following breakfast, our traditional Fathers’ Day Stall will return. There will be a myriad of gifts to choose from starting from as little as $2.00. It is up to each family to decide what would be an appropriate amount to spend.

Fathers' Day Helpers

This week we sent home an Operoo Communication to families requesting parent helpers for our Fathers' Day Breakfast and Stall. You will receive a second reminder in the coming days so If you are available to help out we would love for you to respond via the Operoo request.

Learning Conferences

Please note that our upcoming Term 3 Learning Conferences are scheduled for Wednesday 14th September between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

Booking details will be emailed to all families on Monday.

Rapid Antigen Tests

We seem to have developed a 'stockpile' of Rapid Antigen Tests which are filling up my office so we will distribute another instalment to families today. Please check your child's bag when they come today.

Staffing & Budgets 2023

This may seem a little early but if any family is not returning to Corpus Christi School in 2023 it would be really helpful to know as it will affect our staffing schedule. Please inform the school office as soon as possible if you are not returning in 2023.

Have a wonderful week,

God bless
