Maths Modelling Challenge 2022

Ever wondered the maths behind how a pandemic spreads? Or the environmental impact of getting a lift to school? Or do you want to find out the link between climate change and your WhatsApp messages?

 

Put your analytic brains to the test, working in small groups students have 3 real world mathematics challenges to choose and work through. Celebrating mathematics and the spirit of competition, this event aims to help high school students develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers.

 

The challenge is open to Years 7 – 12 with entries welcome from all teams across year levels. There are no minimum team requirements per school entry. Enter a class in all year levels or just one, whatever works for you!

 

Join in and explore how mathematical modelling can show us not only how the world around us works ­– but how it can help to change it.

Unleashed Writing Competition 2022

Entry is now open to the 2022 Schools Poetry & Short Story ‘Unleashed’ Writing Competition! Students all over Australia are invited to enter their 16-line poems or 500 word short stories, and battle it out for the great cash & prizes on offer.

 

There is no theme! Entrants are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild and write on any topic and in any style. Students from all grades are welcome to enter – Kindergarten to Grade 12.

 

Entry is free and all entries must be in by the closing date of 28 August 2022.

BUFTA

The Bond University Film & Television Awards (BUFTA) is one of the premier film competitions for High School students around Australia. BUFTA gives Year 11 and 12 students the chance to win a full scholarship to study a Bachelor of Film and Television at Bond University.

 

There are no themes to adhere to, no objects you must use, no-one else’s message to relay, simply let your imagination and ambition be your guide. There are eight categories that can be entered into, so grab your camera and go.

Anthology Magazine Poetry Prize 2022

Established to recognise and encourage excellence in the craft of poetry writing and to provide a platform for publication, the Poetry Award is open to original and previously unpublished poems in the English language.

 

Entries are invited from poets of all nationalities, living anywhere in the world. Poems submitted must be on the theme of ‘Dreams’ and should not exceed 40 lines. There is no limit to entries per person.

 

The winner will receive a €500 cash prize and the chance to see their work published in a future issue of Anthology. The winner will also receive a one-year subscription to Anthology magazine.

Create a video 

Collaborate with your classmates to produce a video about your defining moment. Stage a play, perform a dance, film an artwork, make a documentary, produce an animation or surprise us with your creativity. Your video must be at least 30 seconds long and no longer than 4 minutes.

 

Share your video with us and the world!

Submit your video to History Makers. We will share it on our Digital Classroom website and your school will be in the running to win $2,000. Teachers must submit all entries on behalf of their students or school.

 

Open to Australian school students (K–12). Entries close 4 November 2022.
