Acting Principal's Message

Diverse ~ Accepting ~ Inclusive Community

Dear Friends and Families,

We are hosting a very important parent event next Wednesday, 21 September at 7:00pm titled “Navigating Harmful Social Media Messages” by Melinda Tankard Reist in The Minnamurra Hall (https://www.facebook.com/MelindaTankardReist/). I’m asking ALL parents to please make it a priority to attend this special presentation. On Friday, all students will be attending sessions about “Dissecting Negative Cultural Messages and Rising above Toxic Messages”. Please make sure your student/s attend the last day of our school term.

This week we’ve had half the Year 10 students participating in work experience in the Alice Springs, Darwin, Tennant Creek and Cape York areas. I am very grateful to the employers for hosting our students and giving them some insight into their working life. This enables our students to make more informed decisions about further education and training pathways.

Congratulations are in order for our following staff and students:

  • Yesterday, the Bentley Bombers won the Grand Final against Centralian Middle School in a fiercely contested match. The final score was 48 – 22 and this is their third consecutive championship. The team was coached by Trent McIntyre and supported by Davey Tudor and Jake Butler.
  • We also had a staff member, Ms Pi Lee, recognised nationally in the 2022 Out for Australia 30 Under 30 Awards. She will travel to Sydney in October to receive her certificate and there will also be further awards in five different categories. We wish her well in this ceremony.

Finally, our Round Square delegation of nine students, along with Sandi Crogan and Vicki Hutchinson, head to the UK tomorrow for the international conference. What an exciting time to be in London and we wish them safe travels.

Kind regards,
