Principal's Report

Principal's Report

Dear parents,

It was fantastic to see so many parents visiting classrooms during our Education Week Open Day in week 3. I know students were excited to show off their work and teachers really value having parents in classrooms once again. Congratulations to all students on their wonderful artwork which was included in our Education Week Art Display. We have quite a number of talented artists in the making.

At Girraween PS we are continuing to provide students with the skills to become independent and self-regulated learners. Students are explicitly taught to implement learning dispositions to support them as they tackle challenging learning situations. Teachers across all classrooms are using the language of learning dispositions with students as they guide them to develop a growth mindset. Talk with your child about the learning dispositions and how these mindsets have helped them in their learning.

I ask our entire school community to please practice and observe road safety rules while dropping off and collecting children from school. The increasing amount of unsafe behaviour displayed each day is alarming. Please use the pedestrian crossing and ensure you park your car legally. If collecting your child from the 'Kiss and Drop' area please remain by your car and move quickly to avoid congestion.

Our school day begins at 9.00 am and ends at 3.00pm. We have an increasing number of students coming late to school. Parents are encouraged to send students to school on time to prevent loss of learning.

The remainder of term 3 will bring continued learning, reinforced by increased opportunity for students to engage in extra curricular experiences such as excursions, incursions and sporting events.
