Liturgy

Community Mass
Community Eucharist next Friday, 23 September will be prepared by students in Year 7. All Year 7 students and families are very welcome, especially if you have not had the opportunity to attend Mass at this College or in previous schools.
Our Community Liturgy is joyful and user-friendly, and the music is led by our wonderful Chapel Choir, directed by Mrs Haydon and accompanied by Mr Johnston. In celebration of choir members’ commitment to be at the Chapel each week (and their parents/guardians for assisting!) the choir will receive a special blessing at this Mass. (There will also be a treat for choir members afterwards!)
The Eucharist (or Mass) is central to the life of the Catholic Church. Toowoomba priest, Father Hal Ranger, recently described the Mass as ‘meetings of the team’ in an interview with ABC News. Father Hal gave a contemporary context for how and why Catholics gather for the Eucharist each week:
The game is out there in the world… You get the team together to kind of re-align yourself with the spirit of the team, listen to the word of God and talk about it a bit… Then you go out the door to live that out in the nitty-gritty of the real world.[1]
As Spring mornings grow brighter and warmer, everyone is welcome at team John XXIII! For those able to stay a bit longer, there is coffee and conversation in the Circle of Friends Café after Mass.
