Stage 2

Week 9, Term 3, wow! Time is really flying by.  As the term nears to an end the Bilbies and Wombats have been working on finalising their informative text about a chosen Paralympian.  We have learnt interesting facts about people living with disabilities, and been inspired by their amazing achievements.

We have had a fantastic term in Science learning about heat.  We performed experiments looking at how heat transfers, and what materials make the best conductors and insulators.  Stage 2 have loved working together and learning how to conduct an experiment during this unit.

In Maths, we have been very hands-on for the last few weeks as we have looked at Volume and Capacity, and Position.  During Volume and Capacity, we made estimations about the capacity of containers and then used water to measure and check our estimations.  We had a lot of fun (and got a little bit wet in the process!).  This week, we are learning how to read maps and follow directions, as well as the old adage “Never Eat Soggy Weetbix”! These hands-on Maths experiences are always lots of fun and they help us to really “get into” the topics.

Sports-wise, we have loved participating in Gymnastics lessons at Armidale City Gym over the last four weeks.  We have some talented gymnasts in our midst, and even a few Ninja Warriors!

On Tuesday this week, 27 Stage 2 students attended the Touch Footy Gala Day.  We had a lovely day in the sun, and everyone learnt some new skills and worked on their sportsmanship. There were no winners on the day (as no scores were kept!), but we got to play some games, and make some new friends.

Excitement is high for our trip to Thalgarrah next Tuesday (after it was postponed). We will be participating in the T.E.A.M program (Together Everyone Achieves More), which will help us to make it to the end of the year as a great Stage 2 Team!

Have a great week!
