From the Principal's Desk

Week 9: The holidays are close, the weather is warming up and there is a lot going on here at Martin’s Gully.

Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II.  There are so many remarkable things to say about the Queen’s reign.  No other leader has ruled or reigned for so long as an adult and been so beloved worldwide as Elizabeth II.  She gave 70 years of unwavering service to Britain, Australia and so many other countries in the Commonwealth.  Her poise and dignity in prosperous and troubled times are an example to us all.

Parent survey reminder

The Partners in Learning parent survey is part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys on student engagement and wellbeing.  The parent survey helps to clarify and strengthen the important relationship between parent and school. Participation in the parent survey is optional.  We encourage as many parents as we can to participate to help us build a robust dataset to ensure we are doing our best to support the Martin’s Gully school community.  Please complete the survey using the link below:

Breakfast with the Minister

Last Friday, Mrs Deiderick, myself and our school captains and vice-captains had the pleasure of attending a breakfast with The Hon. Benjamin Franklin MLC, Minister for Tourism, Aboriginal Affairs, Arts and Regional Youth.  He and Adam Marshall MP hosted a breakfast for all the local schools' captains and principals.  Our school captains Archie Byrne and Renee Murdock and our vice captains Indie Moar and Oliver Starr represented Martin’s Gully PS with pride and distinction.  Mr Franklin spoke at the breakfast forum and invited questions.  The questions from both the students and principals, highlighted concerns around the access to study after school for students in the country, and the inequality and sacrifices regional youth are faced with when they represent their school at various times such as sporting events in the city.
