Principal's Report

‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others’

Mahatma Gandhi

As Term 3 and the winter season comes to a close it is right and proper to say thank you.  I thank all the parents who gave up their time to mix, make and bake Christmas cakes this past fortnight under Mal Rowe’s calm leadership. I thank all the coaches, officials, players and supporters for their amazing efforts this past term.  Our Men and Women’s Division One Hockey Teams won their Hockey Premierships last weekend; as did the College U/16 Boys’ Gold Hockey side.  And, while we commend and praise them on their hard earnt success, let us not forget about all the people behind the scenes who made the experience possible.  I especially commend our Heads of Winter Sports Mr MacLean, Miss Waldron, Mr Guez, Mr Alexander, Mr Ough and Ms Te Boekhorst for organising a myriad of exciting opportunities and challenges.   This is the sort of true servant leadership that Gandhi espoused!

Finally, I would also like to wish our exchange teacher from Gaoyou Middle School, Mr David Jin, every success as he returns to his family in China.  I also wish Ms Victoria Burleigh every happiness as she departs on maternity leave.  We will miss her nurturing influence on Year 6 and in the boarding house and look forward to her return in 2018.

I wish all families, staff and student alike, a restful break in preparation for our final term.  School recommences on Tuesday 4 October at 8.50am.
