Year 10

Year 10 Program Overview

The boys have settled into their classes and have hit the ground running. I have been impressed with their efforts as well as their commitment so far this year. They have taken up the challenge to get involved in as many activities as possible. A number of Year 10s have already been involved in the Peer Support Training Program, the Radio Show on Southern FM, continued their rehearsals for the school production and participated in the first rounds of SIS sport. There will be further opportunities for them to get involved in the numerous extra-curricular activities available this year including debating, public speaking, chess, music, sport, and a number of social justice initiatives including the Easter and Christmas Appeal and the Mission Action Day Walkathon.

This semester will focus on preparing the boys for the transition into Year 11 and beyond. This will involve the boys completing their Pathways Project and the Work Studies Program. The Pathways Project will help them identify a study pathway for their future careers. The Work Studies Program will prepare them for their work experience placement in Term 2. Each student will be requested to find a week long work placement from 15 – 19 June. This will be followed by the Year 10 retreat camp and driver education experience June 22-26.
