Year 7

First day of Year 7 2020

At first, I thought that writing this would mean impressing all the parents, guardians and teachers but then I realised that I just had to write about my first day, so I hope you enjoy reading this.

As I woke on the morning of the big day, I felt anxious to meet all the teachers and make lots of new friends. Immediately when I started walking to school, I had come across my first challenge of high school, the heavy bags. I cannot stress this enough, my bag was so full I thought it would EXPLODE, but long story short I arrived at school ok.

When we (my Dad and I) arrived, we went straight to the hall and sat down for Mr Pooley’s speech. After that we went away to our homerooms to meet our homeroom Teachers (while the parents went to morning tea).

When we went to our Homerooms, I was happy to see Mr Romeo smiling back at us. When we all got settled in (like getting our locks and putting stuff in our lockers) we got our laptops started to understand how to use them. We logged into the SJC’s SIMON and I understood how to use my lock. Then finally the recess bell rang, and we could go outside. At recess my friends and I went down to the library to play a game of chess and, even though we couldn’t finish it, I still enjoyed my recess.

After recess we went to music class and I quite enjoyed it. My class got told that we had a test coming up and we were told to study for it. During the remainder of the lesson we got used to the music room and even had a tour of the VPAC building. The highlights of the tour are probably the Art room and the Theatre, and I personally loved the backstage area of the Theatre (the room with all the technology) and can see a future there for me. Next, we went back to our homeroom and packed up all our books, put them in our lockers and put our belongings into our bags and headed home.

I enjoyed my first day and I am no longer anxious about going to school. Thank you to all the teachers and other staff for welcoming me and all the other students into this school community.
