College Uniform

Uniform Expectations

A reminder to all that Summer Uniform is expected to be worn by students during Term 1.

The following Uniform expectations are taken from the St James College Student Diary and are the standard expected for all students.

General Appearance

One very practical way that our young men can support St James College is to wear the College Uniform well. The following information is made available so all parents and students are aware of our expectations and requirements.

Students are expected to wear clothing that is clean and pressed. Hair should be well groomed and tidy. No extreme hairstyle or colouring is permitted.  Earrings or studs are not permitted.  No Jewellery, necklaces or wristbands, except religious symbols or watches, may be worn with the St James College Uniform. Students should at all times be clean-shaven.

The official St James College Uniform is to be worn in its entirety:

  • Each school day from the time the student leaves home for school until he returns home.
  • To and from venues of official sporting fixtures by members of representative teams.
  • When attending school functions and while on school excursions.
  • St James College caps are the only head wear to be worn with St James College uniform.

All articles of school uniform are to be clearly marked with the owner's full name. The use of nametags sewn on to clothing is highly recommended. The College will endeavor to return marked articles, which are found, to their owners; it will disclaim any responsibility for unmarked articles.

Summer Uniform- During Terms 1 and 4 Students are to wear the following:

Monogrammed summer shirt (NO COLLEGE TlE), long trousers or shorts with college socks, polished black leather lace up shoes. If an outer garment is worn, it will be the College blazer. If it is cooler, the College jumper may be worn underneath the blazer.

The Summer Shirt is worn outside the trousers.

T-shirts are not to be worn under the summer shirt, Singlets are permitted.

As St James College is a ‘SunSmart’ College, St James College caps are to be worn outdoors in Terms 1 and 4. Sunscreen is strongly recommended during summer.

College Sports Uniform

(Compulsory for All Students)

The full Sports Uniform is to be worn to school on Physical Education days only. Students are expected to change when required for sports training.

The Sports Uniform consists of:

  • Complete St James Tracksuit
  • St James Sports Polo Shirt. (Singlets are permitted to be worn under the College Sports Polo shirt)
  • St James PE Shorts
  • The St James Rugby Top is optional for the sports uniform use in cooler weather
  • White Sports Socks

Hats

A brief reminder about the wearing of St James College Caps during the summer months:

As per the St James College Uniform policy, all students are expected to wear hats at Recess, Lunchtime and Physical Education Classes during terms 1 and 4.

Students are to wear ST JAMES COLLEGE HATS ONLY.

Students who are unable to fulfill this uniform expectation will need to remain in the Quadrangle area, under cover for the duration of recess and/or Lunchtime.

This policy has not altered from 2017 so all students should be well aware of this expectation.

Incorrect Uniform

A note of explanation is required from the parent or guardian of any student who cannot wear the correct College Uniform.  This note is to be presented to the Year Level Coordinator who will issue a short term uniform pass for the time necessary.

All Students must have a St James College Back Pack.

Lost Property

While every effort is made to return lost property to students, it is extremely difficult when items are not named.

Could parents please ensure that all items of school uniform are clearly labelled with your son’s name.
