Teaching and Learning
Term Four is drawing to an end and there has been plenty to celebrate with students completing exams and work experience, with the Step Up to VCE program in full swing and the Year 7-9 End of Year program about to commence. There certainly is lots happening at St Joseph’s!
Some key dates and events over the next few weeks are detailed below.
Step-Up to VCE Program
Preparation for VCE started on Monday the 22nd of November with the Step-Up to VCE Program for all students undertaking VCE in 2022. This program is aimed at introducing students to their Unit 1 and Unit 3 subjects, providing a start to their coursework and an introduction to their holiday homework.
End of Year Program: Years 7-9
The End of Year program for students in Years 7-9 will start on Monday the 29th of November and run till Monday the 6th of November. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities that get them out of the classroom and active in their local community. These include:
- Echuca pool/Sports
- Moama Day
- Urban Orienteering Day
- Mt Hope Day
- Bendigo Day
- Onsite activities
Details of the program have been emailed to students and parents are requested to provide consent in the Operoo Letter that has been sent out to families.
On Tuesday 7th of December we will hold the annual triathlon which is always a great day with students aiming to win as many points for their house as possible.
Wednesday the 8th of December will see students participate in a range of House activities and celebrations at school.
Year 9 Camp
Year 9 students head to Eildon for the first three days of the End of Year program for their Year 9 Camp. This is a great opportunity for our students which will allow them to step out of their comfort zones in a challenge by choice situation and continue to strengthen relationships within the year level. Students will once again be participating in outdoor based activities allowing them to connect with nature and have fun.
Final Dates for students in 2021
Year 10 & 11 students undertaking VCE in 2021: Friday the 3rd of December (Last day of Step-Up Program).
Year 7, 8 & 9 students: Wednesday 8th of December.
Subject Selection Confirmation and Booklists
On Wednesday, the culmination of an extensive program of course Information and counselling resulted in students in Years 7, 8 and 9 receiving confirmation of their 2022 Learning Program.
Nearly all students were able to receive their first preferences, with a small number receiving their second preference for some subjects due to clashes in the timetable grid.
Students also received their booklists which need to be lodged online by Friday the 17th of December.

Semester 2 Reports
Semester 2 Reports for students in Years 7-11 will be released to families on Tuesday the 7th of December. Please review these with your child and celebrate their successes and discuss what they can do to continue to improve in 2021.
Year 7 2022 Orientation Day
On Tuesday the 7th of December, we look forward to welcoming our 2022 Year 7 cohort to St Joseph’s for Orientation Day.
This is a great day where students have the day to explore the college, meet our teachers and get to know each other.
We look forward to welcoming this new addition to our St Joseph’s Community.
