She was well-loved and respected by the McKinnon Family, more specifically the ICT department, but we would like to wish her well in her retirement.  I know that I, for one, will miss her positive and happy disposition around school.  Big shoes to fill!!

WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS OF THE ICT DEPARTMENT

The ICT department would like to warmly welcome the following teachers:

Hi there, I am Simon Shen, a former structural engineer with several years of working experience in the building design and construction industry. I will be teaching Year 10 Introduction to Engineering and Years 10 & 11 Math Methods in McKinnon SC. I enjoy making connections between the subject contents and daily life to make students aware that what they're learning is useful in solving everyday problems.

I am a big fan of Soccer, with Real Madrid and C Ronaldo being my favourite club and star player. I am also a Harry Potter fan with a huge Lego castle constructed in my house.

Jesse is a returning member of staff teaching Physics and Robotics. His background is in automation engineering, and his prior educational experience includes teaching senior Physics, Mathematics and trade Electrotechnology. Jesse is particularly excited about the new facilities at McKinnon's East Campus - 3D printing and robotics manufacturing technologies are an area of huge personal interest. If he's not hovering around the 3D printers Jesse can be found running the Thursday lunchtime Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), Magic: the Gathering (M:tG) and other board games student club.

GROK COMPETITIONS

Grok will be running a series of competitions over this coming year, starting with the NCSS Challenge which starts on Monday 14 February. This is currently aimed at Year 7s and it is a great way to challenge themselves and learn to code! Emails should be directed to hmn@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au for further information.

Students should continue to check Compass for information on all the Grok competitions that the school will be offering this year.
