LANGUAGES AT MCKINNON IN 2022

We are excited to now offer three languages at Year 7 (French, Spanish and German) and have a wonderful team of teachers across our two campuses. We are looking forward to an exciting year of learning for all our students. The ongoing cooperation of the school community in encouraging our students to enjoy the experience of learning a language and in reinforcing what a great skill it is, is always appreciated.

WHY LEARN A LANGUAGE?

The following articles are a reminder of all the amazing benefits of learning languages:

YEAR 12 2021

Congratulations to our 2021 VCE German and French students for their great efforts in their exams last year after two years of disruptions. We wish you all the best in the future and we hope you are planning to maintain your languages in the future and that you will all be able to find opportunities to travel and practise your skills. Gute Reise and Bon Voyage from the whole McKinnon Languages team.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know the French love crêpes so much that they have an entire day dedicated to this yummy dessert? On Wednesday 2 February, French people around the world celebrated la Chandeleur. Originally a religious day, la Chandeleur is now a day to prove a particular skill to your family: how well you can flip a crêpe!

Too easy for you? Try the challenging way where the tosser tries to flip a crêpe with one hand while holding a gold coin in the other. According to the tradition, if successful, the family was assured of prosperity for the next year.
