The Wizard of Oz Day

Last week, our talented Level 6 students performed an edited version of, 'The Wizard of Oz' and we have created a short movie for our community to see.

The movie premier was held at school on Wednesday 15th December. It was great to see so many people dress up as a character from 'The Wizard of Oz' or wear something yellow for the 'yellow brick road'. Our Level 6 actors visited each classroom in their costumes for some photo opportunities.

The movie link will be sent home to families so you can watch it at home together.

We hope you LOVE watching it as much as we LOVED creating it.

I would like to congratulate our Level 6 actors for being so flexible, adaptable and respectable as we maneuvered our way around the Covid restrictions. Some students have already asked me if they can come back next year to help out backstage when the show finally gets performed as a whole school. They will be more than welcome to come back and watch or help.

'The Wizard of Oz' 2022 will be performed at Burrinja Cultural Center in Term 3, 2022. The date will be confirmed in January.

I was delighted to meet the new 2022 Foundation students last week. We enjoyed some singing and dancing together. There were lots of smiling faces and I can't wait to welcome them back next year.

All levels have enjoyed watching the junior and senior entries into Upwey South's Got Talent over the last two weeks. Congratulations to everyone who entered.

We had 10 junior entries and 18 senior entries. We had magicians, singers, dancers, gymnasts, artists, illusionists, mountain bikers, tennis players, hoola hoopers and beat boxers. The votes are still being counted and I look forward to announcing the winners on the last day of school.

Exciting News!

We have received confirmation that our school will be participating in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular in 2022. We will participate in mass dance as well as mass choir and more information will be sent home in January 2022. I can confirm the performance dates are 8th, 9th and 10th September 2022.

Once again, I would like to thank Kim Van Hoorn and Mrs Haines who have been running the SSS rehearsals. Our talented students will be performing at our end of year assembly. Please remember to bring your SSS t-shirts.

Can I take this opportunity to wish everyone a lovely summer break full of joy and hope.

Enjoy making some special memories together with family and friends.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Performing Arts at USPS and I can't wait to get creative with you all in 2022.

Stay safe.
