School News

Marni Naa Pudni

Welcome back to the start of the new school year.  I trust that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

I would like to welcome our new students, families and staff members as well as everyone returning for 2021.

Our Leadership Team for Term 1 and 2 will be as follows:

  • Principal - Tyson Grinham
  • Deputy Principal - Mirjana Grubor
  • Assistant Principal R-7 Teaching and Learning - Rosemary Saxon
  • Assistant Principal R-7 Student Wellbeing- Mike Tarleton

Over the past three days staff have been involved in Getting Off to a Great Start - 'Tuning into 2021'.

This has focussed on our people, through further developing connections and getting to know each other more, which we hope will promote ongoing conversations as we interact throughout the year.

This collaborative approach develops understanding across the school to ensure a consistent approach to teaching and learning and wellbeing.

This approach of focussing on our people will continue into the classrooms with students over the next weeks and also with families through information which will be distributed next week, and our 'Building Connections' - Community Night on Thursday 4th February.

The start to 2021 is extremely hectic in the first few weeks, so please check the diary dates listed in this iNewsletter to ensure you don’t miss anything.

On Wednesday morning if your child cannot remember which room they are in, Leadership will be in the yard from 8.30am with class lists, or you can make your way into the office to see Trudy and Vanessa.

COVID

It has been great that South Australia has been able to return to just about full normality over the holiday period. While there’s currently no community transmission of COVID-19 in South Australia, it’s important we remain prepared to respond to the fast changing nature of the pandemic. We will continue to follow the advice from SA Health and Directions set by SAPOL when making decisions at LNPS.

To begin the year we will be enabling parents/caregivers on the school grounds for drop off and pick up. Please ensure that you physically distance when on the school grounds. We will be restricting access to classrooms unless an appointment has been made. When attending appointments parents/caregivers need to sign in and out through the Front Office and scan in using the COVID Safe Check-in at each building.

Assemblies

Assemblies will continue to be streamed through Facebook Live and  parent attendance restricted due to the current physical distancing requirements. We will still be enabling selected parents/caregivers to attend for Seniors Graduation Speeches. Our first Assembly will be on Friday 29th January at 9am.

Sports Day

Last year Sports Day was held in Term 4 due to COVID. In the end this worked really well as it enable us to line Sports Day up with House Points.

Due to this successful approach we will be holding Sports Day in Term 4 in 2021. Confirmation of the date will be provided in the near future.

We look forward to catching up with everyone on Wednesday.

Goodbye 2020....Hello 2021!

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2021 school year. It is with great excitement that I write this message as I return to LNPS.  I am thrilled to be back and be a part of a team comprised of leaders, teachers, staff, parents and students who want to achieve great things!

All signs point to another incredible and productive school year. Our skilled and devoted staff are planning and preparing for the students of LNPS to have the best start possible to their school year. New initiatives to continue promoting wellbeing, and professional development in the most effective teaching practises is a continued focus for our educators at LNPS.

The beginning of the year can be an exciting, celebratory time. However, we must acknowledge that the current culture and climate in our nation can cause uncertainty. In saying this, I would like to congratulate and acknowledge our educators who resiliently  persisted during the ever changing 2020 school year, always putting our students wellbeing and learning needs first.

Your partnership and support are key elements to ensuring that we are able to maximise each student’s educational and personal development.  To that end, we encourage a positive home-school relationship based on the mutual goal of providing the best learning experience possible for all of our students.  Our talented educators brings a diverse set of approaches to instruction in order to address a variety of student learning styles.  You will have the opportunity to meet the LNPS staff at our Building Connections Community Night on Thursday, February 4 from 5:30-6:30 pm.

I am most excited to welcome back our new and existing students and support them as they begin, continue, or near the end of their educational journeys with us.

Each year brings positive change. Let’s work together to amplify the positive changes we encounter everyday!

To our 2021 Reception Families,

Waving goodbye to your child as they start their schooling journey can be hard for parents and kids alike.

Here are some tips to make the transition into school smoother for everyone.

Additionally, if your child is worried before the big day, you can ask them what would help, such as who should take them to school, where they want to say goodbye and what they want to do after school. Having some control can help children manage their fears.

Last of all, remember to relax! If you are stressed, your child may sense this and worry too.
