Record Year for Solar

It has been a record year for solar electricity production at St Albans Secondary College. Our first full calendar year of production from the solar modules on the Science Centre and Nindethana will see approximately 110,000 kWh of electricity produced. This equates to over 30% of consumption at the school over this period.
Electricity production displays strong seasonality, as shown in the graph below.
Whilst summer is typically the strongest period for production, January 2020 was lower than expected due to the impact of bushfire smoke.
It will also be a record year for new solar installations on the roofs of Australian houses. There will be approximately 3GW of new residential solar in 2020. This equates to one new solar panel every 3 seconds for the whole year! Pretty impressive in a pandemic year where installers were prohibited from visiting houses for an extended period.
