From the Foundation Classrooms
Last week, Foundation students were coached by swim instructors from Boroondara Sports Complex in a virtual water safety program. Going into our summer holiday break, many families will find themselves by the water. We learned about different waterways; rivers, dams, creeks and ponds and their potential dangers. We learned a lot about being safe at the beach and the pool. These are some of the rules foundation students learned about:
- Never swim alone. Always swim with an adult watching you
- Always swim between the yellow and red flags at the beach
- Always listen to the life guard at the beach or the pool
- sun safety (hat, sunscreen, protective clothing, seek shade, etc)
- What you need to do to stay safe at the beach – always swim between the red and yellow flags, be aware of water/waves and always have adult supervision.
Featured here are some of our water safety posters that show reflect the learning from the session.
