Woodlea Grand Opening

Brookside College Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Program is proud to be involved with the Coles Partnership. A massive thanks to Coles for their huge donation of $5000 to our wonderful program.

On Thursday the 4th of March, we attended the Coles Woodlea Store Official Opening and were invited to read the Acknowledgement of Country in front of all the centre staff and visitors. We were very nervous and excited but happy to be there. The store manager later said that we spoke well. 

Two schools were presented with some money. Aintree Primary School received $1000 for their Buddy Benches amd Brookside College SAKG Program received a huge cheque for $5000 which we will use for new garden beds. The SAKG foundation gave us a new set set of aprons for cooking sessions. 

Our favourite parts were being presented with the big cheque, eating the cupcake and speaking to the public. When we did the Acknowledgement of Country, the crowd loved it and we heard them say “awwww how cute” 

The photographers took some pictures and we might be featured in the local newspaper and Woodlea community social media. Our least favourite part was going back to school because the opening was lots of fun and we wanted to stay there longer to eat cakes and listen to music.
