Year 7-9 Sector

Year 7 News

Our Year 7 students have demonstrated success in many areas within the College. We’ve had Interschool Sports trials, lunchtime clubs, leadership meetings and academic challenges within each classroom. It’s wonderful to see students enjoying themselves and taking on new and exciting opportunities. A special mention to our HOL students whom have been working hard to develop their skills in café and trade.

Progressing into the second half of the term, students have been working hard on a range of learning tasks across all subject areas. During weeks 7-10, students will be receiving assessment tasks. We would like to take this time to remind students that it’s important to ask for additional support if needed. Homework Club is a great opportunity for students to receive help (Thursday lunchtime in GLA1) and at Study Club on Wednesdays afterschool from 3:15pm-4:00pm.

Year 8 News

In the last couple of weeks year 8s have been given the opportunity to complete a new subject lead by Mr Raj focused on careers. In this subject, students are able to plan for future pathways and consider career opportunities of their choice for the years to come. All year 8s will be completing their career action plans which will be reviewed annually.

Cohort games have continued with great participation. It has been fantastic to see so many students participate and represent their homegroups. Currently we have 8D in the lead, winning all three of their games and 8A closely behind in second place. We look forward to the next rounds to come and will award the winning class with a trophy in keep in their class for next term and of course- bragging rights!

Coming up, year 8s have a social media seminar taking place on he 16th of March which will address cyber safety and using social media in positive ways. We also look forward to the upcoming athletics carnival and of course camp next term!
