Sector Assemblies

Students and staff participated in the first sector assemblies of the year last week. This provided sectors with the opportunity to come together and celebrate the achievements of the term so far through music, performance, awards and presentations. We hope to invite families to attend these events in the future, as COVID restrictions ease.

Home Learning

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Brookside Community for the quick way they were able to adapt back into Home Learning during the brief lockdown we experienced. Although Home Learning is something we do not want to have to experience, as a college we are confident that we have the processes and supports ready in place if the need arises. It was great to see the excitement of our students upon their return to school.

Swimming

Unfortunately, the lockdown period occurred during our planned 3-6 and 7-9 Swimming Carnivals. Due to the District Carnival being the following week it meant we were unable to reschedule at this time, though we hope to hold the carnivals later in the year.

School Photos

On Tuesday and Thursday this week students and staff had their class and individual photos taken for the 2021 school year. These are always very busy days for such a large college, but ran smoothly thanks to the organisation and communication of the staff and the cooperation of our students.

Easter Bonnet Parade

Put in your diaries - the College Easter Bonnet Parade will be held on Monday 29 March! Keep an eye on Compass for more information to come.

Road Safety

We understand that the traffic congestion around the school during peak times can be frustrating, however we urge all members of our community to remember that the safety of our students is more important than arriving somewhere one minute earlier.

The school works closely with Victoria Police and the Melton Council, both of whom have contacted us recently with concerns about unsafe driving around school times. This includes speeding through school crossings and being disrespectful to the crossing guards who are trying to ensure the safety of our students. If you witness unsafe or erratic driving, or illegal parking, please feel free to contact either of these organisations.

  • Victoria Police have also provided the following information regarding fines and penalties that may be issued:
  • Speeding $207 - $826 (1-3 demerit points & up to 12 months loss of licence)
  • Fail to give way to pedestrian $289 (3 demerit points)
  • Fail to stop and remain stationary at children’s crossing $413 (3 demerit points)
  • Use mobile phone whilst driving $496 (4 demerit points)
  • Seat belt offences $330 - $372 (3 demerit points)
  • Parking Offences $33 - $165

Please ensure that you park and drive safely at all times.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
