Attendance Matters

Early Departure

Please be mindful that the preferred method of notifying the school of an early departure is via email (cranbourne.south.ps@education.vic.gov.au) before 10am on the day of collection.

The default Early Departure procedure is that students are collected at the beginning or the end of Break #1 or Break #2.

  • Break #1 - 10:40am or 11:25am
  • Break #2 - 1:05pm or 1:50pm

Early departure at any other time of the day can significantly impact teaching and learning in the classroom.

Early departure can effect the following areas:

  • interrupting specific learning tasks and not being able to complete tasks with their peers
  • locating classes in alternative learning spaces
  • classroom telephone calls interrupting student focus

All families who collect their child early are noted on the CSPS Attendance Tracker.

‘Every Day Counts’. Attending all day, every day helps students to build their learning and maintain strong social connections with their friends and teachers. Each lesson provides a foundation for the next one, making it easier to learn the next concept.

Bag Bell Procedure

CSPS have a morning procedure to ensure a smooth transition to the start of the day.

  • Teachers will be in their classrooms from 8.50am and will open their doors to greet students once the bag bell rings.
  • Students will then be able to enter classrooms and deposit their bags and begin the morning procedures. This could include taking chairs down, putting reading satchels into tubs and bags into lockers.

Could we please ask parents and carers to be mindful of entering your child's classroom after  the "Bag Bell" has rung.  The time prior to this is used by the staff to prepare for the day. If you would like to have a discussion with your classroom teacher, please contact them via email or Seesaw to make a time to meet.
