Focus on Learning
Year 1/2 - Mrs Amanda Bartholomew
Let’s Get Creative!
In Year 1/2 we have been looking to our creative side. Visual Arts this term has been all about learning how to make and appreciate artworks. Students have been learning to make artworks that reflect experiences of real and imaginary things.
Self-Portraits
We had a close up look at our face and discussed the features that make us unique. Students created these self-portraits using photographs of their face. They first drew these in pencil and then used watercolour to make them look more realistic.
Our Fingerprints Are Unique!
After a close look at their face, students turned to their hands. We discovered that we all have our own unique fingerprint. We then used our thumbprints to create these adorable creatures!
Claude Monet
We have looked closely at “The Water Lilies” by Claude Monet. Students learnt to appreciate the techniques he used to create his beautiful artworks, looking closely at the use of warm and cool colours as well as brush stroke techniques. Students learnt that Monet’s artworks were impressionist artworks. Then they had a turn at recreating his famous “The Water Lilies” artwork.
