A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Sunday eight students from our school received the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. It was wonderful to see St Brigid’s church filled with families supporting their children on this important occasion. Congratulations to: Zeb Allan, Alex Davis, Olive Dillon, Phoebe Farrant-Wills, Ricky Hird, Jorja Jamieson, Rosie Lee and Joel Morris.

Last Friday we had seven students represent our school at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival. Although no one was selected for the next level of competition, many students recorded a personal best time, all the students displayed team spirit and were outstanding ambassadors for our school. Congratulations to Hayley Rheinberger, Stella McMahon, Charles Lee, Will Bartholomew, Jorja Jamieson, Abbie Coghill and Ricky Hird. Thank you to Mrs Bartholomew for supervising our students.

Congratulations to the students elected by their peers to be SRC reps. Congratulations to Archie McNamee (Y5), Olive Dillon (Y4), Phoebe Farrant-Wills (Y3) and Lily Brown (Y2). These children along with our School Captains, Prefects and other interested senior students will do a wonderful job this term by contributing their student voice to our school community.

Developing strong teams is one of our goals in our Annual Improvement Plan. We have many teams across our school: teaching teams, staff teams, student teams and parent teams. For a school to thrive every member of the team needs to feel safe, valued, respected and cared for in order to make a positive contribution to the team. This Thursday our stage 3 students are looking forward to a day at Windy Station (thank you to the Lee family for your hospitality) where we will explore what it means to contribute to our school team in Stage 3. We acknowledge that our senior students are role models for all the students in our school and it is extremely important we spend time getting the team right in this grade. The students will be involved in team building and leadership activities. I look forward to sharing how this day goes with you in next week's newsletter.

I encourage many parents to join the PT & F team by coming along to our meeting this Wednesday evening at 6.00pm in the school library.

Enjoy your week.
