Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Term 1 has definitely been a whirlwind and it is hard to believe we are in week 7. With only two rounds of the summer season left for Term 1, I wish all the teams the best of luck for this weekend. Win, lose or draw, let’s finish off the summer season with good sportsmanship, hard work at training and enjoying the time remaining with teammates.

Winter sports trials for the Junior School will be held in week 9 this term. All boys planning on trialling for Rugby and AFL will need to organise a mouthguard in preparation for trials. Boys planning to trial for Football (soccer) will need to have shin pads for week 9. Days of trials will be confirmed closer to week 9. Boots will not be worn for winter sport trials.

Tuesday 16 March will see the Junior School participate in the annual Cross Country Carnival. The carnival will be held on Breen oval and will commence at 9.00am. There will be three events on the day - 10’s, 11’s and 12’s races. The 10’s will compete over a distance of 2 km and the 11’s and 12’s over 3 km. It is a compulsory day for all students and attendance is expected. The carnival will help select the Cross-Country team that will represent the College at the IPSHA Carnival to be held at The Kings School, Saturday 27 March.

Parents/carers are welcome to attend and watch the Cross-Country event and will be asked to scan the College QR code on entry to the oval via the side gate on Fraser Street. Parent/carer seating will be along the benches on the Fraser Street side of Breen oval, keeping a distance of 1.5 metres between spectators. Parents and boys are not to mingle through the course of the event and parents are asked to please vacate the oval at the conclusion of the carnival (11.00am). As always, anyone experiencing flu like symptoms or who have been in close contact with a known case of COVID-19 are asked to please refrain from attending.

Boys will attend school on Tuesday 16 March dressed in their PE (Colour House shirt) uniform. If it is cool, the full College tracksuit should be worn. Please be aware that it will be a normal school day after recess, so all boys need to be prepared for lessons for the remainder of the day.

I look forward to welcoming parents/carers back onto the College campus for our first home carnival for the year. I await in anticipation the results from the coming weekend.
