Our Year 12 students have reached a fundamental milestone in their short lives as Term 4 signals the end of your daughter’s school journey; marking the beginning of the next stage of her life. While sheer jubilation, and unmitigated joy may describe her sense of place at this juncture, so to may she feel a sense of loss, and sadness.

As you look back over your memories of her at the College, remember each stepping stone and door that has opened bringing her to where she is today, from her first day at the College, her first argument with a friend, her first report card and her first challenge.

While you have offered wisdom and advice, in partnership with the College, I ask you to remind your daughters to make the most of life’s opportunities, remember the Franciscan values of simplicity, love, compassion, joy, service, trust, peace and respect on their journey.  Encourage her to accept adversity as a challenge, set goals for the future, develop and maintain a strong sense of social justice and to be thankful for the gifts which have been bestowed upon her and remain true to herself. Life is a rich tapestry threaded and stitched together with her hopes and dreams ready to embrace when the next door opens. Until then, please remind your daughter of our 4 Point Smashing Program as seen below:

Ensure they have time mapped out for cognitively refreshing activities. Study, reading, writing, learning are all cognitively taxing. Balanced activities that refresh and re-energise you. I can’t tell you what those activities are for your daughter. However, I can say that generally, good quality sleep, regular physical activity and time spent with friends and family (that they like) are activities known to be re-energising. Your daughters will have to be deliberate about ensuring these activities are present in their week because people tend to get caught in predictable traps when it comes to this stuff. I refer parents to the latest edition of SchoolTV for tips and advice on ensuring your children are getting enough sleep and free from exam stress
