This week is Māori Language Week.

Māori is one of New Zealand's three official languages, and is regarded as a a treasure.

Ko tenei wiki ko Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori.

Ko te reo Māori tetahi o nga reo rangatira e toru o Aotearoa, a e kia ana he taonga.

 

On Tuesday September 14 we all have the chance to get together and celebrate a shared Māori Language Moment.

I te Turei Hepetema 14, ka whai wāhi tātau katoa ki te hui tahi ki te whakanui i te wa momotu o te reo Māori.

 

We would love you to join us in celebrating a Māori Language Moment. You might sing along to a song in Māori, or say a greeting in Māori, or ask a question in Māori, or share your pepeha - your family story of where you come from. 

Ka nui to matou aroha ki a koe kia uru mai ki te whakanui i tetahi Taima o Te Reo Māori. Akene ka waiata koe i tetahi waiata ma te reo Māori, ka mihi ranei ki te reo Māori, ka pātai ranei i tetahi patai ma te reo Māori, ka toha ranei i to pepeha - to korero a whānau mo te take i ahu mai koe.
