Importance of Face Masks

With record Covid-19 case numbers occurring in Victoria this week including exposure sights in Bendigo and Echuca our neighbouring towns it is now more important than ever that we do what we can to keep each other safe and keep our school open.

The prevalence amongst young people has also increased in this latest outbreak which has been highlighted this week with the story of a 16th Birthday Party that has led to a number of attendees contracting Covid and at least one of those now in ICU. This is an outcome we do not want to see in our community or for any of our students. The data this week also shows that the age bracket of 10-19yrs is the third highest age group for active cases with over 3000 in the state.

Covid-19 is spread through a droplet and airborne transmission as well as on contaminated surfaces. This transmission can happen when in close face to face contact, being within 1.5m of a contaminated person, or by touching a contaminated surface before touching your face.

So we ask that on return to school to stop or limit the spread we need students to wear a mask indoors and outdoors and only remove them to eat, drink, and for vigorous exercise. Use hand sanitiser when entering and exiting classrooms and practice good hygiene. Wear warm school uniform in preparation for doors and windows being open to promote ventilation. We also ask that only essential visitors enter the school to reduce the chance of exposure.

Thank you for your support and efforts to look after each other.
