Principal's Update

The examination period has concluded but it remains a busy time at the College with the commencement of our 2020 Headstart program.  In recent days, we have again had the opportunity to witness the talents of our students and staff in the area of performing arts.  Both the end of year Dance Concert and Christmas Soirée delighted the audience and highlighted the growth that has come through many hours of practice and rehearsal during the year.  Congratulations to all involved!

Our travellers to Cambodia and Vietnam, who departed on Sunday, have arrived safely and commenced their immersion program.  We wish our travellers to Timor Leste who depart on Monday, accompanied by Ms Natalie Burke and Mr Steve Nash, a safe and enriching immersion experience.  The group will spend time in the community of Remexio that the College has a long association with and on the island of Atauro.

There are always mixed emotions at the end of a school year as we farewell members of our community. I would like to acknowledge and thank the following staff members for their valuable contributions and commitment to Kilbreda College and wish them every blessing in their future endeavours. A number of these staff have been long serving members of this community and each has left their unique mark on this community.

  • Mr David Lear
  • Mr Keir Selfridge
  • Mrs Cathy Maloney
  • Ms Barbara Corstorphan
  • Mrs Tricia Benson
  • Ms Silvana Luongo
  • Ms Simone Garraway
  • Ms Denise Dunne
  • Ms Jemma Law

Best wishes also to Mrs Kim Aidone, Mrs Melissa Dwyer and Mr Joe Gallo as they take extended periods of Long Service Leave during 2020.

To those students who are leaving Kilbreda, I hope that our College motto of ‘Strength and Kindliness’ along with fond memories of your time with us will remain with you. Best wishes also for the years ahead.

As 2019 comes to an end we must take time to be grateful for what we have; family, staff, colleagues and friends that support us. We give thanks for the privilege of education and employment, a privilege that so many around the world do not have. We give thanks for the opportunities over the year to extend and challenge ourselves, to learn, to celebrate, to deepen our spiritual journey and to connect with others.

As we begin this new Advent season, we pray that we receive the gift of Jesus and the Spirit so that our hearts can be calm and peaceful.  May we recognise, welcome and reach out to the vulnerable and the lonely within our communities for whom the season of Christmas can be a challenging time.

May the blessing of joy abide within you.

May the blessing of peace rest upon you.

May the blessing of love flow out through you.

May all the blessings of the Lord be yours at Christmas and in the New Year.
