PRAYER

Lord God, you are our beginning and our end.

As we begin the last term of our 2021 school year, help us to give of our best.

The term will soon be over so we need to make the most of every day.

We pray especially for all the students sitting their HSC exams this term.

Help all of us to concentrate on our studies and

give us the strength and courage to do what is right

so that we will enjoy a productive and happy term.

We make this prayer in the name of your son, Jesus.

Amen.

WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4!

I trust you and your family had a wonderful holiday and that this correspondence finds you well.  Like us, I am sure you are proud of the extraordinary work of our students as they worked with their teachers and with each other in the remote learning environment. Our students are resilient and hard working and their tenacity throughout Term 3 has been nothing short of outstanding.  We need to maintain this attitude for three or four weeks of online learning before we recommence face to face teaching.  It is important that the boys use these online learning weeks well as it is only a nine week term.  We will be encouraging the boys to be setting goals for their learning this term. Maybe they need to revise their times tables or work on their reading or writing.  Thank you to the teachers for their fantastic efforts with online learning. When the boys return to school there will be a lot of socialisation that will occur and getting the boys re-accustomed to learning in a classroom.

As per last year’s COVID-19 requirements at St Pius X, all boys in the school will be expected to wear a mask.  This will assist in keeping everyone safe.  We will also have a day cleaner circulating through the school for the day.

We will be investigating sporting opportunities that we can do within the COVID-19 guidelines.

Please remember:

  • Check that your son fits into his summer uniform in preparation for the return to school.  Don’t forget to check the shoes!
  • School Assemblies for this term will be held on a Monday morning, with Junior Merit Awards presentations remaining on Fridays.
  • Next Tuesday will be a Screen Free Day.

Return to school dates:

  • From 18 October – Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 12
  • From 25 October – Year 2, 6 and 11
  • From 1 November – Year 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10

(PS: All grades mentioned for parents with children at other schools)

From the Junior Resource Centre

It’s been such a LONG time since we last met! Not long now…

We only have a few more weeks before we start returning to school. If you have any library books at home, start getting them ready to return to school when you return. Cannot wait to see you all again soon.

This term the students will be creating a Digital Time Capsule to remember the COVID-19 Pandemic. One day these will become primary sources when we learn about the years 2020 - 2021and COVID-19 in history!

Count down to Halloween

It is getting rather spooky over in the JRC as we get ready for one of our most favourite times of the year. This is a time when I really let my creative juices go crazy and create and do all the spooktakular things for the library. We are definitely not going to let lockdown stop the spookfest in the JRC. Who’s with me? #halloweeniscoming

Name That Villain!

In preparation for our spooktakular festivities, the students are invited to enter the Name that Villain competition!

Fill out a guessing sheet with the name of the book where each villain can be found. For an extra bonus, name the character. Drop you answers into Mrs Martin when we return to school for a CHANCE to win a prize! Remember to keep the answers TOP SECRET.

New Books have arrived in the JRC

Some exciting new arrivals have just landed for your reading pleasure.#keepreading

Space Week  4 – 10 October 2021

Celebrating “Women in Space”

It’s officially Space Week! This year’s theme is "Women in Space”.

The theme aims to bring more awareness to the issue of gender diversity in the space sector and the obstacles women face in these careers.

Did you know that according to reports, 20-22 per cent of the entire space industry workforce consists of women?

Let us celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women to the space sector!

Mrs Martin’s Book Trail: Things That Go Bump In the Night by Patrick Carman

Some stories are best told in the dead of night. 3:15 means several things. It’s a time when 'Things Go Bump in The Night'. A place where spooky stories find a home. A feeling…. that chill running down your spine. Each story is introduced, then if you are brave enough to continue, you’ll read for about ten minutes. Then the ending will be unlocked with a short video. I advise leaving the lights on. #mrsmartinsbooktrail2020
