Lights, Camera, Pius!

The fifth annual St Pius X Film Festival is taking place this term. Once again it is a virtual festival. All young filmmakers are invited to submit their entries. Films should be no longer than 3 minutes and must have been made this year and can be about any theme; have been made as class projects; any genre such as comedy, documentary, horror, sci-fi, action, romance, animation etc - it must be General (G) Rated. There are prizes and awards on offer! This calls for imagination and inventiveness. Films could be COVID-themed. It is great to see films made by students from all years.

National Youth Science Forum 2022

The SPX Science Department warmly congratulates Andrew Guerrera for his acceptance into the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) Year 12 Program in January 2022. This program is designed to give students a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in STEM and has limited places. It is only offered to students with a keen interest in and passion for Science. This program has been attended in the past by numerous other elite Science students, but Andrew is the first student to apply from our College in the last 2 years.

Andrew has displayed a long-standing passion for Science, since his junior years, and is heavily involved in Science at the College both academically and voluntarily. He has a thirst for knowledge, enjoys all aspects of Science and is currently studying Biology, Chemistry and Physics for his HSC year.

We wish Andrew all the best at the program next year and look forward to hearing all about his NYSF experiences. Well done Andrew.

Volunteers - expressions of interest for examination support Years 7-10

Later this term exams are scheduled, commencing 8 November.  For this to occur the College requires volunteers to assist.  These volunteers are essential volunteers and are therefore permitted into the school.  It is a requirement, however, that these volunteers provide:

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate and
  • Working with Children Check

If you would like to assist a student to access the exam paper by reading or assist a student to respond to the questions by writing, it would be greatly appreciated if you could contact our Diverse Learning Team. agunns@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au
