Principal's Report

Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Welcome to our "new look" Newsletter! We have been looking for a way of producing our newsletter in a format that is easier to read from a range of devices and believe that this may be the answer! We look forward to receiving your feedback on the new format.

It is hard to believe that we are heading towards the end of term 3 with the last day of term Friday 24 September. A reminder that school finishes at 2pm on that day.

If you need to access Vacation Care during the holidays, please ensure you are booked in using the app Fully Booked to ensure you have secured a place.

We congratulate our students who participated in The Festival of Music Choir performance at the Entertainment Centre on Wednesday evening last week. The performance was a fabulous experience for both the Choir and audience.

Last Thursday 9 September, on our Pupil Free Day (PFD), all staff came together for a professional learning day. The focus of the morning was on utilising student literacy data  to design classroom curriculum programs. Staff had the opportunity to attend a range of workshops to explore this focus. The afternoon session had a focus on Understanding our self and others and working as an effective member of the staff team.

Our PFD was followed by a School Closure day on Friday 10 September. The difference between a PFD and a Closure day is that one is dedicated to staff professional learning and the other is a day when the school is closed and staff are not required to work. Each year Education Department schools have access to 4 PFD's (staff professional learning days) and one Closure. The dates of each of these days is determined by the individual school and endorsed by the Governing Council. We have had 3 of our 4 PFD's with the 4th planned for Monday 15 November.

This week Year 3-7 students are engaged in PAT tests in reading and maths. These test will provide us with additional data to support students and their learning. We are expecting the NAPLAN reports to be available prior to the holidays. If your child is in Year 3,5 or 7 and completed the NAPLAN tests, please look out for the report.

We thank you for your understanding and support this term whilst we adhered to the Health advice to restrict adult access to the school grounds. We are hopeful that we will see further easing of these restrictions in Term 4.

As this is the last newsletter of Term 3, we wish you a safe and healthy holiday break. We look forward to seeing you on Monday11 October for the beginning of Term 4.

Regards,

Terena Pope
