Risk & Quality

As many of you are aware, Enterprise has undergone an environment change with the removal of a wall and extension of the lounge area. Soon blinds will be installed and new furniture will arrive. These changes have received positive feedback from staff, families and visitors.

As part of the ‘focus on dementia’ CI, there will be additional dementia education delivered by Dementia Training Australia (DTA) commencing in July. There are limited places in each course, please register your interest with myself or Vik Linke.

All staff will have access to complete online eLearning modules from July;

  • The View from Here: Skills in aged and community dementia care (all staff)
  • Understanding Responsive Behaviours (all staff)
  • Management of Antipsychotic Medications for Responsive Behaviour in Residential Aged Care (nurses/medication endorsed)
  • Too much of a good thing: fundamentals of deprescribing (nurses)

In August there will a Dementia Essentials course; this course will be suitable for PCA’s and Lifestyle staff in Enterprise and staff who are new to dementia or have limited knowledge. It will run over three weeks, one day a week including; 1 virtual session and 2 face to face classroom sessions.

Meaningful Engagement, a one day 6 hour workshop onsite will be run in September, for lifestyle and Enterprise staff. This workshop is a great hands on learning experience that will help you deliver and individualised activities and support to our dementia residents, improving their daily lives and interactions. Maximum of 8 participants.

For our RN’s and Enterprise Team Leader there will be a Responsive Behaviours Consultancy that will run over 8 weeks, 1 hour a week through October/November. This will be delivered as a Virtual Classroom and has a maximum of 6 participants.

Keep up the great work everyone,

Cassie Powell
