Home Care

About the Home Care Packages Program
This government funded program supports older people with complex care needs to live independently in their own homes. It uses a consumer-directed care approach to make sure the support suits a person’s needs and goals.
ECA Home care will work with care recipients to plan, organise and deliver Home Care Packages.
A coordinated mix of services offered by ECA Home Care can include:
· Domestic Assistance – i.e. cleaning, help with laundry, bed linen etc.
· Personal Assistance – i.e. personal hygiene, grooming, toileting
· Nursing Care – i.e. dressings, assistance with medication
· Meal Assistance – i.e. shopping, food and meal preparation etc.
· Respite Care
There are 4 levels of Home Care Packages – from level 1 for basic care needs to level 4 for high care needs. Each level of care receives a fixed amount of money allocated by the federal government.
Why the program is important?
We know that most people want to stay at home for as long as possible as they get older. To support this, the government-funded program subsidises in-home aged care service and services to help people stay connected with their community. The program provides services that sit between our entry-level Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and residential aged care for older people who can no longer live at home.
Who provides the services?
ECA is an approved provider and will commence offering care and services from June 1, 2021.
How to access the program?
Access to home care packages is through My Aged Care, the government portal. A person might be referred through a hospital, their GP or the Home Care Coordinator. They can also do a self referral by contacting My Aged Care directly, or have a family member or other trusted person do so on their behalf.
Registration can be done online or by phone.
The Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) will then assess the person’s eligibility for a home care package.
After a home care package has been approved, they will be placed in the queue for their approved package level.
Once eligibility has been established, the care recipient will know what level of care is required and begin looking for a provider to best suit their needs.
ECA Home Care will work with the care recipient to create a care plan specific to their needs and goals.
