Clinical

It’s the end of May already, we are nearly six months into the year!

My last day of work will be the 18th of June before I head on maternity leave until the 7th of February 2022. I have really enjoyed my first 6 months of work. I finally feel that I am getting in to the swing of things. I am though looking forward to maternity leave and finding out if it is a girl or a boy.

SIRS

As you are all aware we have rolled out SIRS education for all staff to completed this month which will be paid once certificate is provided to payroll as evidence of completion. Attached is the SIRS decision to report flow chart that has been adapted from elsewhere.

Some areas to note

  • Resident on resident aggression; verbal or physical needs to be reported to an RN and determined if reportable, even if there is a cognitive impairment.
  • Ensure that resident to staff aggression is also reported and that staff do workplace incident on the MANAD system.
  • A lot more areas are now reportable and if in doubt please escalate
  • Remember that there is only a 24 hour window to get the report in. If you are unsure then report it.

Feedback

Feedback is an important part of our process in improving our overall care we provide and in recognising the great work that we do. I log and review all feedback that is put through the facility and the majority at present is very positive, which is wonderful. We do however need to ensure that we are recording suggestions and anything that was of concern.

You can do this one of two ways.

Provide people with yellow a form if they are able to attend. There may be issues with the form for a lot of residents due things such as cognitive impairment, Poor dexterity or visual impairment.

Staff can directly write the feedback into the MANAD system under their user tab and my feedback you just have to complete the feedback provided to you and I follow up the rest.

If you have any feedback, issues concerns or complements the feedback tab on MANAD is where you can put these concerns. If you only want your direct manager and HR to see it, please tick private.

We introduce the MEDSIG charts this month over a four week period the sachet system will also change and we are transferring to what they call a Portion pack. This works similar to the sachets. Training has occurred via teams for the staff.

Thanks
